Chemical Genomic Screens can be used to identify inhibitors of molecular activity as well as those that produce a downstream phenotype that is desired. To do this, the protein is mixed with a varying library on a microarray plate. Chemical molecules that represent certain functional groups are added to the wells during an incubation period. The result can then be analyzed to identify possible chemical compounds as potential drugs.
